Mickey Rourke has been removed from Celebrity Big Brother UK following a series of controversial incidents involving inappropriate language and behavior toward fellow housemates.
The 72-year-old actor’s tenure on the show was marred by multiple contentious episodes. Early in the season, Rourke directed offensive remarks at singer JoJo Siwa, questioning her sexuality and making derogatory comments. Despite receiving a formal warning from producers, his conduct did not improve. During a pirate-themed challenge, Rourke engaged in a heated confrontation with contestant Chris Hughes, using threatening language and slurs. Although the altercation did not escalate to physical violence, it prompted producers to intervene.
In a statement, ITV confirmed that Rourke “agreed to leave” the house after discussions regarding his continued use of inappropriate language and unacceptable behavior. As a consequence of his early departure, Rourke’s reported £500,000 appearance fee is expected to be reduced.
Following his exit, Rourke publicly apologized, expressing shame over his actions and acknowledging his struggle with anger management. He described himself as a “work in progress” and took responsibility for his behavior.
Compounding the controversy, actress Bella Thorne recently accused Rourke of misconduct on the set of their 2020 film Girl, alleging that he caused her physical harm during a scene. Rourke’s representatives have denied any intentional wrongdoing but stated he is willing to cooperate with any investigation.
Rourke’s removal marks the first time a contestant has been ejected from the ITV version of Celebrity Big Brother for such behavior.
