It is hard to imagine a universe where Survivor’s Eye of the Tiger doesn’t exist, but that may have been our reality had Queen allowed Sylvester Stallone the rights to Another Bites the Dust for Rocky III.
I mean, obviously there are an infinite amount of universes where the Rocky movies were never made but the song was. However, in those universes Spiderman is fat and Eye of the Tiger was written as the theme song to ThunderCats. *snarf*
I rewatched the “Eye of the Tiger” scene in Rocky III. Survivor’s Jim Peterik and Frankie Sullivan were inspired by the scene as it gave the the title for what would become the band’s only chart topper.
It’s during the inspirational speech Apollo Creed gives Rocky when he tells him he lost the fight because he lost his edge, but when those two fought he had, “that eye of the tiger.” I had goosebumps nearly the entire scene. Click here to watch it on you tube.
