A smoke alarm sold exclusively on HSN has been recalled because it does not alert people to fire.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission tested the Samurai Mini Smoke Alarm and found that one of the detectors did not alert them when a pre-determined concentration of smoke was present.

The company which makes them, Three61, had eight complaints that the alarms failed to go off when smoke was present.

The recall affects about 328,000 devices with model number SM1

They were sold in two or three packs and came with batteries, adhesives, screws, mounting plates and instruction manuals, the CPSC said.

If you have the recalled smoke alarms, contact Three61 for a free replacement. You will need to write “Recalled” on the alarm with a permanent marker, take a photo of the alarm and upload it to the company. Once the recalled alarm is registered, Three61 will send the replacement.

For more information contact Three61 via email or online.
