Michael Stiven Delgado Marin, 24, of Hollywood, is facing a charge of attempted first-degree murder, according to online booking records with the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.

According to an arrest report, Marin and his girlfriend of three years broke up for about five months when she left Florida to visit her mother, the Sun-Sentinel reported. They reconciled when she returned to South Florida, but they began arguing again when the woman said she found drugs in their home, the newspaper reported.

The arguments escalated, and the woman told police that Marin beat and choked her and also locked her in a bathroom, the Sun-Sentinel reported.

According to the arrest report, on July 3, Marin “pressed a handgun against her lips and threatened to kill her if she left him.”

The woman left to stay with a friend, but Marin showed up the next day looking for her, police said.

According to the arrest report, Marin allegedly showed the woman’s friend a bullet with his ex-girlfriend’s name written on it in green ink. “This is what I’m going to do to her,” Marin allegedly said, before pointing the gun at the friend’s head, the Sun-Sentinel reported.

Both women reported the incident to police, and Marin was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to Broward County court records. Marin was released after posting $40,000 bail about two weeks later, according to court records.

Marin surrendered to police on Monday after learning about the attempted murder charge, the Sun-Sentinel reported.

“I thought the state over-charged (Marin),” Pedro Dijols, Marin’s attorney, told the newspaper. “If you believe the police report this is nothing more than an aggravated assault, period.”

Marin remains in jail without bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 17, according to court records.
