The Food and Drug Administration is warning consumers to not use a type of eye drops from a single lot because they are contaminated with a fungus.

The FDA said Alcon Laboratories has recalled a lot of Systane Lubricant Eye Drops Ultra PF, Single Vials On-the-Go after the agency received a single consumer complaint of foreign material inside a sealed vial.

The foreign material was found to be “fungal in nature” which can cause an eye infection that could threaten a person’s vision. It also can be potentially life-threatening.

There have not been any reports of adverse reactions connected to the drops.

Only one lot — 10101 with an expiration date of 2025/09 — are part of the recall.

They have Systane and ULTRA PF on the box, which contains 25 vials, the FDA said.

If you have the recalled drops, you should not use them and return them to the store for either a replacement or refund.

Call Alcon Laboratories at 800-241-5999 from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT, Monday through Friday if you have questions about the recall.
