A huge congratulations to the St. Petersburg Collegiate High School Student Choir who got the opportunity of a lifetime when they sang on stage with Foreigner and Lou Gramm at The Sound last Saturday.
In the press release from Ruth Eckerd Hall:
"The St. Petersburg Collegiate High School Student Choir performed the power ballad I Want To Know What Love Is with Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductees Foreigner and legendary original singer and founding member Lou Gramm at their concert on Saturday, March 15 at The BayCare Sound. This performance was in partnership with The Marcia P. Hoffman School Of The Arts at Ruth Eckerd Hall to support their mission in changing lives through the performing arts.
At the end of the performance, Kelly Hanson, the current lead singer of Foreigner, took a moment to thank the choir and explain the band’s tradition of inviting student choirs during their tour.
“One of the many reasons why we have these beautiful, talented youth choirs join us on stage is to raise awareness about the lack of funding for school music programs. We need you to contact your school board, local politicians, raise money, or donate money to help keep these young people’s musical dreams alive,” said Hanson.
The Marcia P. Hoffman School of the Arts at Ruth Eckerd Hall is one of the largest providers of arts education and community engagement experiences in the nation and currently impacts more than 60,000 students annually through their dedicated partnerships, outreach programs, and arts education classes.
“We are thrilled to see our students receive such amazing opportunities to showcase their talents. This partnership with Ruth Eckerd Hall is a testament to our commitment to providing a well-rounded education that includes robust performing arts programs,” said St. Petersburg Collegiate High School Principal Ryan Halstead in an interview with SPC Newsroom."
