For fans of 80′s movies, Robin Williams’ Popeye is one of those that was originally panned by critics, but later shown to be more popular than people thought. I loved the movie growing up because I was only around 6 when it came out in theaters. And it was my first real exposure to the genius of Robin Williams, who is my favorite comedian/actor of all time. Even though the movie was never a huge hit, it definitely has a fan base.

I specifically remember thinking, even as a young kid, how cool it would be to be able to see the real town of Sweethaven from the movie. Little did I know, until very recently, that you actually can go there, even today. The movie set was built on the island of Malta, just south of Sicily in the Mediterranean Sea. the set was way overbuilt which is probably why it still stands today. And its now a theme park and tourist attraction, if you can afford a trip to Italy, that is.
